Helping with Hands is a non-profit foundation created by the Barenbrug Family to encourage employees to contribute meaningfully to society through volunteer work. The foundation’s mission is to support charitable projects that align with our commitment to sustainable business practices and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The Helping with Hands foundation was set up to make positive, hands-on impact. The objective is to support projects that focus on key areas such as the environment, education, and sports. While the Helping with Hands foundation provides financial contributions to qualifying projects, the approach goes beyond simple donations— our teams are actively encouraged to get involved, offering paid leave to participate in volunteer work. This hands-on approach ensures that Barenbrug employees are not just donors, but are part of the solution, directly engaging in projects that help communities thrive.

Here in the UK, Helping with Hands is woven into the very fabric of our CSR activities. It is an essential part of our commitment to both the planet and the people who live on it.
Since 2018 Barenbrug UK, and the Helping with Hands foundation, has worked with the Green Light Trust. The Green Light Trust are an organisation dedicated to empowering individuals through the transformative power of nature. With a focus on personal growth and well-being, the Green Light Trust helps individuals rebuild, reawaken, and refocus their lives, fostering a sense of belonging, purpose, and resilience. This collaboration with the Green Light Trust works through a combination of financial and volunteer support. This has seen our teams help with a range of things, from getting new buildings built for programme delivery right through to the hard manual graft of coppicing trees by hand in the woodland to ensure it stays a workable space for those engaging with GLT services.
Through Helping with Hands, we proudly contribute to causes that align with our values, and through our employee involvement, we ensure that our efforts extend beyond financial support—creating a meaningful, lasting impact in the communities we serve.
